At talks held in Cairo that included representatives from the IDF, the Shin Bet, and the mediating states, the status of the remaining hostage cases and the ceasefire framework was discussed, according to a senior Hamas official.
Ghazi Hamad, a member of the political bureau of Hamas, said the organization is continuing efforts to locate the body of Ran Gvili, the final Israeli hostage whose remains are still in Gaza. He stated that once precise information about the location is confirmed, the body will be handed over to Israel. Hamad added that Hamas had previously transferred 27 bodies to Israel in a short period of time, despite what he described as “logistical difficulties” on the ground.
Turning to the broader ceasefire framework, Hamad accused Israel of failing to advance the agreement reached at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit in October. According to Hamad, Israel has not taken steps toward implementing the second phase of the deal.
He alleged that since the agreement was signed at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit, more than 900 violations by Israel have been documented and formally submitted to the mediating countries for review, including Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey.
Hamad further claimed that Israel is blocking the entry of goods and construction materials required for rebuilding the Gaza Strip. He also said Israel is refusing to permit the full, two-way reopening of the Rafah crossing.
Expressing skepticism about Israel’s intentions, Hamad said he doubts there is genuine willingness to move ahead with the next phase of the agreement, which he noted would include the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the launch of large-scale reconstruction efforts.
