Once again, Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz has stepped up to address a need during a trying time.

The renowned Los Angeles philanthropist who had redefined the concept of tzedakah-giving in our generation is contributing a massive sum of money to the yungeleit of Yeshiva Mir Yerushalayim.

The donation, Matzav.com is told, is to the tune of $3 million.

The funds will cover the stipends of the yungeleit for Shevat and Adar, as well as a tosefes chag stipend, or an additional check, in honor of Yom Tov.

At a time when many are pulling back on their tzedakah-giving because of the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus, Rechnitz has done the opposite, donating magnanimously, demonstrating his heartfelt belief in the Ribono Shel Olam’s promise of “Uvechonuni na bezos” which he has often spoken about in his speeches.

A recorded announcement was sent to the yungeleit of the Mir informing them that Shlomo Yehuda has sponsored the tosefes chag and the majority of the chalukas.

This news comes just days after Matzav.com reported that Rechnitz – the Torah world’s most well-known giver of tzedakah – had sponsored the largest Kimcha D’Pischa operation in the world led by Rabbi Ephraim Stern.

Earlier this week, when asked for his thoughts of any potential impact in overall tzedakah giving due to the uncertainty of the economy, Shlomo Yehuda told Matzav.com, “It’s easy to write a check when you’re in your comfort zone, but the real nisayon to overcome is in these times, and every genuine baal tzedakah knows that.”

Shlomo Yehuda then added, “Just give, give and give more, and then just sit back and watch more brocha just flow right back to you.”

  1. An amazing teiyireh Yid! HKB”H should bentch him with arichas yomim vishanim metoch brias hanefesh ubrias haguf!

  2. I would like to respectfully request that those of us in Klal Yisroel that are financially fortunate to help out in these times do so as strongly as possible. During this crisis, taking into account the business that we’re in, this Nesina that we gave, together with the amount of medical supplies that we are dispersing is not easy. However we must all step up. For those that know me, I am very uncomfortable with this publicity. However these times call for serious measures. Our Klei Kodesh are hurting. Many Balai Batim are finding themselves out of work or R”L out of business. May those of us that can make a difference step up strongly to the plate. We are Shluchim for the Ribono Shel Olam. He has entrusted us with this massive responsibility. May He enlighten us to know the right way and May this Yom Tov usher in a Refuah Sheleima to all Cholei B’Nai Yisroel, B’Meheira B’Yameinu, Amen!

    • I am currently out of my job, and it means a lot to know that people in Klal Yisrael really care. You are a incredible person and Hashem should bless you with continued success! Thank you!
