Dear Matzav,
I am begging and pleading with everyone

PLEASE PLEASE STOP THE SHIDDUCH DATING.
PLEASE SHUT DOWN THE ALL SHIDDUCH CHATS.
Lets put everything on hold until after Pesach at least.
Someone will go on a “safe” date and their grandparent will be at their seder…
And this can happen many times over…
Do the math…
We will kill people if we keep up this reckless dating at this time.
As Rav Uren Reich Shlit’as said.
Now is the time to be makpid on every possible chumra of Hatzalaas Nifasos.
Now is NOT the time for misguided chesed/shidduch efforts.
Lets wait a month and save lives

  1. Psak from Rabbi Chaim Schabbes in regards to shidduchim:
    1. Continue to redt
    2. Avoid zoom/face time etc.
    3. Dates should take place OUTDOORS.
    4. Boy and girl should arrive SEPARATELY.
    5. Maintain distance as per requirements.

  2. This is a tragedy of tragedies. This will set back the age-gap crisis with repercussions for untold years in the foreseeable future. This will only widen the already stretched age-gap. Now bochurim will have to start dating immediately after 12th grade. This is no laughing matter.

  3. Please back this up or remove. It must be coming from a psak by an Adam Gadol otherwise its Assur to follow. We cannot move on these decisions of things that pertain to “continuity of life” with out a psak of Adam gadol.

  4. Huh? Shidduch dating is important. It is just two people, and not the groups we are being told. Why you being more worried than the experts??
Let them date, in an outdoor place, 6 feet apart

  5. R Pogrow ,

What if a 22 year old boy agrees to date a 32 year old girl, in line with NASI’s campaign?

Then the rules change? They may date?

    A. B.

  6. Post-Purim humor:
In the Torah HaKedosha, who was the NASI LiVnei Shimon?
    Shlumiel.

Seriously, please ask your Rov for a Psak.

  7. Unless a boy is dating and planning to marry multiple wives, ten or more, than being in a group of more than ten on a date is a problem but a normal date of two people is fine. In fact being six feet apart either sitting on two different benches in a park or opposite sides of a long table will break the ice of the daters. First of all they will speak up in a louder tone especially if they wear masks. They will be very relaxed behind their masks and more shidduchim will happen. For those picking up dates can use a long mini van and girl can sit way back of the van with a mask and be less shy to communicate. Caronavirus is a perfect name as it carries the beer name carona. A little alcohol in carona will relax the daters and serve as a conversation piece. Lechaim !

  8. we know what Miraim told Amram
This gizera is worse than closing mosdos – it is stopping the future of klal yisreol.

  9. He is worried about a small chance of loss of life, so he is telling people to do something that will certainly cause there to be less yidden
Maybe everyone should just get up and divorce their wives to slow it down?
    Rabosai, this is stupid
    גזרתך קשה משל פרעה

  10. I don’t understand the negative replies. We have a serious catastrophe on our hands. We have to do any and all measures to insure that the virous won’t spread. Stop spewing hate!! We All know that its the right thing to do.
As a shaddchan, most of my dates have canceled until the situation improves.

  11. Now is a time to be finding solutions.
Like perhaps have them both confirm that they have no symptoms, for those concerned, they can even be tested beforehand . But to stop dating? That is a horrible idea and totally unnecessary, and these kind of drastic things can only come from our gedolim. This is sad

  12. At first I thought this was another joke. What’s next bone I oilam saying stop having kids??? Are we insane!!!chasunas of too many guests happening and spreading this terrible virus. And you pick something which is as the root of our continuity to stop! This is embarrassing. During world war 2 people still found ways to get married and have families and now you want to stop it? Where is sass Torah here? Maybe first we should stop all those who are filling the clothing stores and shoe stores or making big gatherings before we start making ourselves into hedonism who can make such weighty decisions!!!

  13. More clarity:

    from rabbi schabes to me

“I spoke to R” Sholom Kaminetzkyand he said that his father Shlit”a holds that no shidduchim should be started unless both sides are comfortable to start on skype or facetime”
