Israel’s Health Ministry warned the public this week to vaccinate children in the wake of a significant increase in the number of cases of measles in 2018.

Since the beginning of the year, 262 cases of measles have been reported, compared to 33 cases in 2017 and only nine in 2016.

According to the ministry, 90 percent of the cases occurred in people who had not been vaccinated or had been in contact with unvaccinated people.

Though measles was once a common illness, vaccinations kept it at bay. It is fatal in 1 out of every 1,000 cases.

According to the World Health Organization, measles kills approximately 134,000 children a year. JNS.ORG

  4. “According to the ministry, 90 percent of the cases occurred in people who had not been vaccinated or had been in contact with unvaccinated people.”

So please explain how the other 10 percent that HAD BEEN vaccinated, got sick?

Does the vaccination work, or does it not?

    • why dont you learn how viruses work. a vaccination is not a all encompassing protection. a virus can mutate and then the vaccination is useless. it would require a unvaccinated host though. also I would imagine sometimes a vaccine doesnt take. and that’s why the more people vaccinated protects everyone. by making up for those who dont administer because they would have a bad reaction from taking a vaccine and those whose vaccine didnt work.

  5. I received all my measles vaccinations as a child. When I was pregnant was tested; I showed up as no measles antibodies. After giving birth I got the required shot and the next pregnacy I again showed up as having no antibodies. Again I received shot-but for some reason the vaacination doesn’t leave my body with antibodies.
So to answer peoples question -even though I received she shots, if people around me get the measles, I am susceptible.
That’s why it importamr if people around me are getting the vaccination.
