dov-hikindAssemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) is asking President Obama and U.S. Attorney General to address the national, life-threatening epidemic of ‘Knockout’-a ‘game’ that has already killed four victims in the last three years and injured many others.

“It’s getting worse in my community and our neighboring communities, and it’s apparently spreading to many cities,” said Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn), who has been addressing the situation as it plagues New York City. “People have died. There’s fear in communities. Some people are afraid to leave their homes.”

This week, Assemblyman Hikind had to convince a 78-year-old woman in Midwood, New York, to make a police report and go public after she was assaulted in broad daylight by what she reports was a 20-year-old African-American male.

“I had to convince her that the more incidents reported, the better the chances were of the police making arrests,” said Assemblyman Hikind. “We have been receiving regular reports from Crown Heights of men, women and children being assaulted for no reason. There’s no robbery, just a brutal, potentially life-threatening blow to the head. Who doesn’t realize how dangerous this is?

“This is a national issue. People have died in New York, New Jersey, Minnesota and Missouri. Others have been badly injured and suffered psychological damage. And it’s spreading.

“The national media are reporting this sick ‘Knockout’ epidemic so clearly it is well known. I respectfully ask that the President and Attorney General get involved publicly. ”

  1. This is mainly a job for local police, making it all the more important that Mayors keep police departments strong and effective (hint to de Blasio).

  2. This isn’t an epidemic; an epidemic affections multitudes of people. How many of these knock out assaults have been reported – half dozen? Not quite an epidemic.

  3. Is Mr. Hikind forgetting the ideas and lessons he learned from R. Meir Kahane? Ahavat Israel calls for Jews to protect their neighbors. Part of the solution MUST be local, Jewish patrols staffed by well trained patrol teams. The community must provide funds so that the surveillance and other equipment the patrols need. Please Mr. Hikind, call for the formation of new patrols and hold a recruiting event.

  4. Remarkably the President and Attorney General have been silent. It is unfortunate the President is reluctant to denounce the potentially murderous/bad behavior of person who resemble the Mr. Obama. As a leader and role model he should step up unless he does not care.

  5. Eric Holder??? That UNELECTED criminal???
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
    Dov, you’re joking, right?

  6. Odd. People like Mr. Hikind are always calling for smaller government and less interference in their lives – until they have a problem themselves. Then it’s “Help! Where are you guys?” That kind of inconsistency makes you wonder about the sincerity of the rest of Mr. Hikind’s political statements, and those of the so-called conservatives who share his views.

  7. Don’t hold your breath for Al Sharpton to reign in his community and call for a halt to this senseless clearly anti-semitic violence.
