New York’s Democratic leaders are “cowards” and are “silent” in the face of escalating antisemitic violence, said former state Assemblyman Dov Hikind.

“It’s called antisemitism. Clearly. And where is the political leadership?” Hikind, a Democrat, asked in a Twitter video. “They are silent.”

In the video, Hikind highlighted the recent attacks on the Jewish community and said Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and Rep. Jerry Nadler were not saying or doing enough to protect its members.

“These attacks are happening constantly; many of them are not being reported. And our political leadership is missing in action. They are simply cowards. Cowards are what they are,” he added.

“Jews are being viciously attacked in NYC. Where is [de Blasio]? Where is [Cuomo]? Where is [Schumer]? Where is [Nadler]?” he asked in a tweet, sharing a video demanding the lawmakers do more.

“Terror directed against the Jewish people of New York and all over the country. But in New York, Jews are being beaten up in Brooklyn, in Manhattan. Jewish blood is running on the streets of New York; people being intimidated; people being assaulted; people ending up in the hospital by those who are filled with venom and hate,” he stated in his remarks.

Much as I hate De Blasio in general I don’t see what anyone wants from him this time around. He came to BP more than once. He spoke out very strongly against the recent attacks. He added a lot more police protection (for the time being). What more do you want from him? It is very wrong to pick a fight with someone who is trying to help.

Save the attacks for the other people on the list.

  2. Dov has been paying his proverbial dues to the Democratic Party throughout his political career. All for what?! Time to admit that it is impossible to make any political alliances with the Democrats and any of their constituent groups.

  3. Dov:

I love and respect you a lot. But I am surprised you stopped the finger pointing at these elected officials. As politicians, they are now beholden to the Squad and similar moral midgets. They cannot risk their careers to say or do anything useful.

Our problem is greater. It is the askanim within our own community that kiss up to these despicable politicians. You know their names, and I will not spell them out here. They keep congratulating the mayor and the governor for keeping the peace, having adopted the political stance of pushing agendas of dishonesty. If they would protest, there is some chance that the Schumers and Nadlers would see their career clocks ticking.

Dov: You are one of the only members of the community with a political voice who ever speaks out. The others basically reward the mentioned politicians for ignoring us and supporting criminals, terrorists, and hate crime against us.

Last comment is that your pushes to promote awareness are welcome and great. They do have impact. But the ones that need to be impacted most are the politicians who don’t care for your messages, or even the moral codes that are contained in them. They respond to voters who make their support contingent on positions that are acceptable. Schumer and Nadler do not care a drop whether Jews get attacked, as long as they keep their public offices. And catering to the votes of other groups, whether ethnic groups, or even convicted felons might be their keys to their goals. Dov, we need to erase their bases of support.
