dov-hikindIn response to Mayor Bloomberg’s “One-Click Hearings” initiative, Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) announced today that his office is now equipped with a dedicated computer and scanner to help constituents fight parking, health and sanitation code violations, red light camera tickets, and many other types of summonses online, instead of challenging the tickets in-person or by mail.

According to published reports, approximately 1.2 million parking tickets are contested in hearings, about half of which end up being dismissed. The new online hearings enable those who received a ticket to present written rebuttals and upload supporting documents or photographs as part of their defense. Users of the online hearing system can expect to receive a decision from an administrative law judge within 10 days.

“I applaud the Mayor for offering online hearings and streamlining the process of fighting tickets,” said Hikind. “I am thrilled that my office is now able to aid those who do not have access to a computer and who would otherwise be forced to dispute a ticket in the traditional ways which are time consuming and burdensome.”

Hikind’s office is available to assist constituents with their online hearings Tuesday through Thursday between the hours of 10 AM and 12 PM. Please bring your prepared, written defense, as well as any photographic evidence or documents with you.

For more information, please call the Office of Assemblyman Hikind at 718.853.9616.

State Senate? He’s running for the U.S. House of Representatives!

Besides, we need a Republican Congressman.
