The year 2001-02


The series of India versus England was a series of sheer entertainment for all the cricket fans. India won this series and all thanks to Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble. England bounced back in Ahmedabad without Graham Thorpe as he decided to go back home because of some family issues. The England team dominated over the Indians and the matches, but the England team did not have that spark to win. Bangalore one-day series resumed after Christmas, and the England team were on a break, and between these matches, with 3-1 India was dominating the series, but England levelled with the help of to run victory at Delhi and a five-run win in the deciding game. In this series, only Andrew Flintoff ran off to the ground with his shirts off.

2002


This was an exciting four-match test series, and the results came out to be a draw. The first match England won the match at Lords. Second game England scored 617 but India scored 628 for eight where Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar scored hundreds, and Ganguly scored hundreds.

2004


This series was held between India and England in England. This was just before the ICC champions trophy. This series England won the first two matches and India won the third game at Lord’s.

2005-06


In this series, England team was captained by Michael Vaughan, and they also had their leading spinner Ashley Giles and the top order talisman Marcus Trescothick. In the second test, India took a series lead that was held at Mohali. India won this match with the brilliant performance of Munaf Patel who was a very good fast bowler, and it took seven wickets in that match. But in the 3rd test match which was held at Mumbai England won the match by 212 runs. This happened with Shaun Udal’s help, who picked up four wickets and just gave 14 runs.


2007


In this series, India secured their first series win against England since 1986, and this happened the second test held at Trent bridge. The first test of this series was held at lords where the final day was cancelled because of bad weather. The third test was held at oval and Anil Kumble made his first century in this match. Sahil Khan won the man of the match award with the deadly left-arm swing bowling.

2011


In the year 2011 England climbed to the number one position. It all began with a double hundred by Kevin Pietersen at lords. Rahul Dravid also scored a very brilliant century, and he got his name highlighted on the Honours board. India responded very well in the second test held at Trent Bridge still the lower order batsman kept them in the game. Because of this match, Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the award of “Spirit of the Decade” as in this match Mahendra Singh Dhoni and 12 when the third umpire gave him out because of a runout.
