Hogg To Trump: 40,000 Americans Dying Annually From Gun Violence Is A Good National Emergency To Start With

Parkland, Fla., school shooting survivor and outspoken gun control activist David Hogg slammed President Trump on Tuesday for saying he may “call a national emergency” to build his long-desired U.S.–Mexico border wall.

“If we really want to start talking about the national emergency like the president likes to talk about, 40,000 Americans dying annually from gun violence is a pretty (…) good one to start off with,” Hogg said during an appearance on CNN on Tuesday.

Hogg said Tuesday that gun control should be considered a “nonpartisan issue” considering “the fact that both Democrats and Republicans die from gun violence.”

“Bullets don’t discriminate and neither should our legislators,” he added.

  1. More than 72,000 people died from drug overdose in America in 2017. Why didn’t he mention that???

And just for the record: guns don’t kill – people kill.
If you don’t believe me just ask yourself – if you had a gun, would you use it to kill someone?

  2. Smart youth. Hard nation.

Our rate is 13/100,000 per year shot to death in US. 0.5/100,000 England.

Its hard. Yes the US is dangerous. Turning ahead we grade the best officers.

Tough year. Growth of better communities. Massacres add.

    Hard.

    • But yet the accessor to murder, the coward Scot Peterson, is receiving $8,700.00 dollars every month of taxpayer money because of his pension! Sick sick corrupt nation. We reward those who are responsible for innocent lives being snuffed out. Hogg should go kiss Peterson every day. Dumb stupid dangerous kid.

  3. And the majority of those gun-related deaths are suicides or gang violence in Democrat-controlled cities with strict gun laws.So taking away guns from normal American citizens won’t cut the death rate.

  4. The first poster makes the correct point. The correct question is why are people killing people. Unless that is properly addressed, then it does not matter whether or not there are guns. This is a technically advanced society, with internet and high tech equipment and stuff. Those who used guns would find other means, and maybe even worse – bombs, gas, etc.

And maybe, if this was properly investigated, the high death rate from guns comes from (among others) things like violence imported from – or through – the southern border (a southern border the like of which does not exist in Britain). And in addition, maybe from the psychological unbalancing that comes from the “toxic masculinity” and male “patriarchy” guilt trips (starting now as young as kindergarten in the U.S.) against American White Males. Female Democrat politicians have gone public with (among other statements) demanding that “old white men” should “shut up” (welcome to the country of free speech – except for old white men, or any white man who is not a Democrat).

    And so forth.
