nyc-trafficHoliday travelers making their way home on the New Jersey Turnpike are running into some major delays this evening.

The New Jersey DOT reports heavy volume along many stretches of the highway, with the largest delay occurring in the northbound lanes between Exit 7 in Bordentown and Exit 8 in East Windsor, where a 13-mile backup was reported.

There also are delays of up to eight miles in the southbound lanes between Exit 9 in East Brunswick and the Molly Pitcher Service Area in Cranbury.

Large areas of congestion were reported along the Atlantic City Expressway, the Garden State Parkway, I-280 and Route 3, but traffic was moving on other major roadways.

Newark Liberty International Airport reported minor delays, but volume-related delays of up to two hours were occurring at smaller area airports.
