A heat wave has hit the tri-state area on the fast of Shivah Assar B’Tammuz.

The NY Post reports that temperatures are expected to hit 98 degrees today, but it will feel closer to 110 degrees as the humidity climbs, said Dave Samuel, an AccuWeather meteorologist.

The last time it got this hot in the city was July 18, 2013, said Samuel, who noted recent heat waves haven’t been quite as warm. “It’s going to stay toasty all week,” he said, predicting temps in the 90s for July 4 and beyond.

The National Weather Service has an “excessive heat watch” in place for New York until 9 p.m. Monday.
