The Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives will deliver an impeachment charge against former President Donald Trump to the Senate on Monday, rejecting Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s request for a delay.
Trump will face an impeachment trial in the Senate over the ransacking of the US Capitol, which Democrats believe he incited.
“I have spoken to (House) Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi who informed me, that the article will be delivered to the Senate on Monday,” Senate Majority Leader Schumer said in a speech Friday.
“A trial will be held in the United States Senate and there will be a vote whether to convict the president,” Schumer told his colleagues on the Senate floor.
That came the morning after McConnell asked the House to delay sending the charges until next Thursday, and to agree not to start the trial until mid-February to give Trump more time to prepare a defense.

Yeah Pelosi has no time to work on the stimulus bill – second time in two years distraction during an emergency with this nonsense. Where’s the 14th amendment against her for not properly security the Capitol on 1/6 – she is the head of the Capitol police. This should be investigated. She’s doing this distraction on purpose to cover her own tracks. Ditto schumer – remember, where was he to be found during the entire year of the pandemic in ny (neither gillibrand). He only comes up for air where he can grandstand – first at the Amy Coney Barrett hearings and now he’s in his full “glory”
