A Houthi terrorist leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi threatened to attack any ship heading towards an Israeli port, whether or not it passes through the Red Sea.
In a speech Thursday, al-Houthi threatened that the Houthis would target any ship that comes within range of their weapons if it is heading to Israel.
The Iran-backed terror group has been attacking ships in the Red Sea since their fellow Iranian proxy,Hamas, attacked Israel on October 7th.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in late April that a coalition vessel fighting the Houthis “successfully engaged one anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) launched from Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist-controlled areas in Yemen over the Gulf of Aden.”
CENTCOM said the missle was likely targeting a US flagged, owned and operated vessel called the MV Yorktown. “There were no injuries or damage reported by US, coalition, or commercial ships,” it said in the statement.
Separately, CENTCOM successfully destroyed four airborne unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) which were flying over Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, the statement said.
Earlier in April, Houthi terrorists in Yemen had claimed they launched rockets and drones at British, US, and Israeli ships. The Iran-backed terror group announced it had targeted a British ship and a number of US frigates in the Red Sea, and in the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean it had attacked two Israeli vessels heading to Israeli ports.
In response to the uptick in Houthi attacks, the US formed a coalition, made up of more than 20 countries, with the goal of safeguarding commercial traffic in the Red Sea from attacks by the Houthis.
In mid-January, the US and Britain, with support from other countries, targeted just under 30 Houthi locations with 150 different weapons, and have continued to strike Houthi targets since.
However the Houthis appear unfazed by the coalition strikes, saying that their campaign against the “Zionist enemy” will continue and that their terror attacks against the American and British ships will not stop.
