Defying the doomsayers who insist American Jews are a dying breed, a recent Pew survey found that their numbers are actually growing at an impressive rate. A soon-to-be-published critique, however, describes these findings as “extremely implausible.”

Haaretz reports that Israel’s leading demographer Sergio DellaPergola argues that there are only 6 million Jews in America, contesting the 7.5 million figure cited in the gold-standard Pew survey for 2020.

According to this critique, which was undertaken by Sergio DellaPergola, a leading authority on Jewish demography, most of the increase in the Jewish population reported in the Pew Research Center survey comes from Americans who identify as only “partly Jewish,” and would not typically be included in Jewish population estimates in other countries.

  1. ANY SECULAR AMERICAN WITH A JEWISH NAME IS ALMOST CERTAINLY NOT JEWISH, BECAUSE THE INTERMARRIAGE RATE AMONGST REFORM AND OTHER NON RELIGIOUS IS 90%.

    • there are, however, secular americans without a jewish name who are very jewish because of the same reason, and some of them do not even know it.

  2. The OTD have diminished the Ortho numbers big time.
Sad to say there are very few new BT’s anymore. In the 70’s &80’s BT was the rage. In 20 years there will only be 1-2 million real Jews left and there
