A survey conducted among 2,247 Israeli chareidim found that only 2% believed that Israeli Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s banning of subsidized childcare centers for yungeleit would make them go out and work. Others thought Lieberman’s decree would only force kollel wives to stop working altogether (23%) or reduce their working hours (17%).
Some 43% believed the law would inflict serious harm to yungeleit, while 20% thought the harm will be middling or minimal.
As to Lieberman’s motive, 88% believed he was motivated by anti-chareidi hate, and 10% thought his decision was based on economic rationales.
