IT company Hewlett-Packard (HP) says it won’t allow users of its 3-D printers to produce guns unless those users are firearms manufacturers and the weapons that are created can be detected by airport security.
“HP is against ‘ghost guns’ being produced on our 3-D printers,” HP chief executive Dion Weisler wrote in the November letter, obtained by the Oregonian/OregonLive.
HP did not say how it would stop people from using its products to make ghost guns — weapons that are untraceable and unregulated — and it was unclear how the policy would limit their production.

Sort of like saying a manufactor is going to make restrictions on using its copy(regular) machine to make copies of a page from a certain book. How are they going to be able to do that???
good point @logic. and more than that, if I am going to buy a 3d printer for a large sum of money and I know that one company messes around with what you can or can’t make don’t you think I am just going to buy a different brand. And that is even without bad intentions, someone who intends to do harm will certainly buy a different brand.
p.s. how far will they go? can you print a toy gun or that also is banned?
