img_8145[17-minute video below.] A crowd of hundreds gathered tonight at an asifa for kiddush Hashem and achdus at Bais Faiga Hall in Lakewood, NJ. The close to 700 people in attendance heard divrei chizuk from the Rosh Hayeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha, Harav Malkiel Kotler shlit”a, and the Mashgiach, Harav Matisyahu Salomon shlit”a. The gathering was called for all parents of students of the Bais Faiga and Lakewood Cheder schools.

The asifa was called for 9 p.m. A minyan for Maariv was held in the main Bais Faiga ballroom and everyone then found their seats.

The Rosh Hayeshiva and Mashgiach were joined on the dais by Harav Dovid Schustal and Harav Yisroel Neuman, Roshei Hayeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha. In attendance were numerous rabbonim, mechanchim, and heads of other mosdos in Lakewood, who were inspired by the uplifting words of the speakers.

Rav Malkiel Kotler spoke first, sharing words of hisorrerus appropriate for this time of Sefirah and the upcoming Yom Tov of Shavuos. Rav Kotler recounted the amazing attributes of Lakewood, the Ir HaTorah, and the phenomenal accomplishments of the city. He thanked the administrators, menahalim and menahalos of both Bais Faiga Girls School and Lakewood Cheder Boys School, and recognized the high standard of chinuch habonim v’habanos that has been established at these premier mosdos hachinuch. The crowd gave applause in middle of Rav Kotler’s remarks.

Rav Kotler then asked Rav Salomon to address the audience. With his powerful auditory, Rav Salomon stressed the power of shalom and the importance of attaining the status of “Vayichan shom neged hahar,” which was achieved by Klal Yisroel at Har Sinai. Harav Salomon also told the crowd of the need to stay away from discord and disunity, especially ahead of the Yom Tov of Kabbolas HaTorah, when we celebrate the giving of the Torah – which could have only been received by the Am Hanivchar if there was true unity.

  1. To Hello: The outcome was that Lakewood is a special town, which it is
and that we should be unified
I think it is pretty clear what the outcome was – unity, Torah, proper priorities, not being caught up with naarishkeiten and taarumos(that was from the Mashgiach)
I was there even though my child is not in Bais faiga anymore (she left last year and is now in high school) and i would say it was a kiddush hashem. my wife said that she wanted to be able to be there. we men are fortunate to be able to join with hundreds of other men of the community for a gathering that is for the sake of shomayim which is what this was. it was the way an asifa should be,m nothing more need be said

  2. “The crowd gave applause in middle of Rav Kotler’s remarks.”…True, but could have been told over with more specifics.

    Time to pay tuition!!!

I want to commend the oilam for keeping this “matzav” basically offline…I’m surprised they even opened up this discussion.

  3. To Pikeach who just left a comment:

    We hope you understand.

  4. We must all complement the great KIDUSH HASHEM and how the Rosh Yehiva talked about masou umatono bemuna and dover emes belvovo. Boruch Hashem sheciyonu lazeman hazeh.
