“I Was Scared”: Yair Netanyahu Reveals Why He Left Israel, “Not a Real Democracy”

Yair Netanyahu, son of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, opened up in a new interview about the intense pressure and fear that led him to leave Israel and spend an extended period in Miami. Speaking on the TOV channel’s Standpoint program, hosted by Gabe Groisman, Netanyahu described the turning point that made him realize he needed to step away.

Yair, who returned to Israel ahead of his younger brother Avner’s planned wedding—a wedding that was later postponed due to the launch of Operation KeLavi—said he had no intention of coming back otherwise. “What broke me,” he recounted, “was the night of the Gallant incident. I was home alone, and I was sure the protesters were going to break in.”

He described the chaos and fear of that night: “They were on the fences with torches, trying to climb into the house. That’s a clear fascist symbol, especially as they were shouting that they were going to kill me. And I saw that the police weren’t doing anything, that there were instructions from the top to let the protesters have a free hand. That’s when I understood I was in real danger and couldn’t stay here.”

Asked why he chose to live in Miami, Netanyahu said, “I felt hunted, me and my family. I truly felt that my life was in danger.” Yet even in Miami, he claims, he wasn’t left alone. “They launched a surveillance operation on me with private investigators that cost millions of dollars. They didn’t give me any peace.”

Discussing the broader political atmosphere, Yair launched into a sharp critique of Israel’s governance. “The current system here isn’t a real democracy. The citizens’ votes at the ballot box barely matter,” he said. “It’s important to understand that the deep state in Israel is just a branch of the American deep state. It doesn’t operate independently. What we experienced here was a color revolution—the same kind the U.S. carries out in many third-world countries to topple governments it doesn’t like.”

He also spoke about his father’s decades-long battle against the Iranian nuclear threat. “The Iranian nuclear program has been my father’s life mission for 30 years. He’s been fighting the entire world on this, including eight years against Obama’s nuclear deal, which was designed to keep the ayatollahs happy.”

  1. Any study of democracy will show that there has never been a democracy in any state or country, ever, except for Athens and that fell apart quickly. Democracy, in pure form, cannot be sustained. If you don’t like your representatives, run for office yourself.

    • Athenian democracy was also severely deficient.. Only 10%-20% could participate. Women, children snd slaves were excluded, as well as people not native born and non-property-owners. Additionally very few positions were elected positions.

That’s the “independence” of the Zionist paradise for the idolaters who worship that, including the “Religious Zionist” idolaters who suspend the mourning of sefirah to celebrate their idolatrous holiday of Zionist “independence”.

    • You lost. We have rabbonim who permit it. It’s the miraculous Return, the miracles , the ingathering, the Torah learned, the continued Aliyah. Your position is long irrelevant.

      • Nope. The Torah is forever.

There are no rabbanim who permit that idolatry, at least not any who can argue with the likes of the Chazon Ish, Brisker Rav and Rav Elchonon Wasserman and all the others. The “return” there, meaning Jewish migration in the last century, was also very much non-miraculous. Christian Zionism is a real thing. And the Zionists’ victories in their wars were also non-miraculous.

        • Nope, read the history of religious Zionism, there were literally hundteds of Rabbonim who suppiored it from Romania to Galitzia, from Russia to Lithuania. You mention your 3- 4 Rabbonim over and over again all over the blogs. They were outnumbered.

        • You, of course are a heretic . Doesn’t matter how many rabbis you mention, you’re a kofer.

          • You have it backwards. If not for their Torah learning and teaching, who knows what would have happened to the Jews there.

As well, a century ago, the Jews there begged the Zionists not to invade and to leave them alone. The Zionists decided to invade anyways. If a gang invades an area against the will of the locals (and political powers) and decides that they are going to protect it, even if they do that, that doesn’t legitimize their gang thuggery. Same here.

        • You need lies to bolster your weak argument. Just for opener :
Chazon Ish NEVER EVER called it idolatry, he came to terms with State as a practical matter. Rav Wasserman’s influence is minimal , we won’t get into the details of the murder of him and his disciples, and why it happened HY”D.
Readers – please be careful of quotes, info or unsubstantiated propaganda by either side.

        • Here’s the bottom line.
Very soon you’ll be racing to your nearest airport to get to our Holy Land.
Your America is crashing and quick. Pray you’ll be allowed to grab a couple of bucks and a dozen socks. See you soon.

    • We are approaching the 3 weeks and you continue with deplorable hatred . How absurd that you typed ” sefirah” , then trash chashava , ehrliche Religious Zionists. The plague then, was promulgated by punks like you.

      • “…chashava , ehrliche Religious Zionists…”
You seem to have missed, as the Brisker Rav and Rav Elchonon both wrote, that “Religious Zionism” is idolatry and heresy.

So, one cannot be both a chashuv Jew and also be a “Religious Zionist”, just like one cannot be both a chashuv Jew and also be any other type of idolater. That is self-contradictory.

        • I didn’t miss it. Makes no difference. Our RZ brothers, sisters, rabbis , are the finest, most upright, Yidden. We don’t curse and belittle other rabbis even if they be historically wrong , we don’t engage in sinah, hate , loshon hara . We appreciate Hashem’s outright chessed of a growing Eretz Yisrael under wonderous nissim. He are happy residents of the JEWISH State of Israel. We don’t make yerida, we won’t live in any other country. Have a nice summer.

      • The point, of course, was not hate. Rather, it was to point out how silly it is to tamper with our mesorah in favor of this Zionist idol, especially when, as this article points out, that idol (like other idols) is essentially just a big illusion.

        • Our mesorah includes the Radak, Ramban, Malbim, Rav Avrhom son of Rambam , Sefer Chareidim who all predict a yishuv in EY before Moshiach.
Our gedolim- Rav Kalicher, R’ Kook, R’ Alkalai, R’ Reinis among others won ! Toras emes . You say idolatry because your shita has been demolished, and that it the truth.

          • A “yishuv” in EY is not a problem. It is the political rule and rebellion and wars against the nations to achieve that political rule, among other severe problems, that is the issue and that none of your “mesorah” claimed and certainly never permitted.

Rabbi Kalisher was for living there, not political control. Rabbi Reines also did not allow for violating the oaths. And he retracted even more at the end of his life.

The greatest gedolim wrote explicitly that “Religious Zionism” is idolatry. See Kovetz Maamarim and all the rest. I wrote idolatry because the Torah considers it idolatry. And that is the truth.

    • Anonymous :
A famous Rav once referred to your kind as Rodfim. I will add that you’re also despicable liars who brainwash otherwise wonderful Yiden.

  3. Rav Reinis never retracted.. Show where he retracted . They were for buying land from Turkey to settle . The Balfour Declaration declared a Jewish State which was greeted with joy as a Yom Tov. This is Hashem’s hand. This is beginning of Redemption.
This is the biggest miracle since kriyas Yam Suf.
