The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) revealed Wednesday that Iran is continuing to stockpile and enrich low-grade uranium far beyond the limits set according to the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In “a confidential document distributed to member countries and seen by The Associated Press that Iran as of November 2 had a stockpile of 2,442.9 kilograms (5385.7 pounds) of low-enriched uranium, up from 2,105.4 kilograms (4,641.6 pounds) reported on August 25,’ reported The Republic.

In the deal, which the United States, China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany (P5+1) signed, Iran was permitted to keep a stockpile of only 202.8kg (447 pounds). The newly disclosed amount is more than 12 times the agreed limit.

In addition, the IAEA also disclosed that “Iran has also been continuing to enrich uranium to a purity of up to 4.5 percent, higher than the 3.67 percent allowed under the deal.”
