ICC permanently Shelves Flotilla War Crimes Case

The International Criminal Court (ICC) ruled to permanently shelve war crimes allegations against IDF troops after 10 Turkish citizens were killed on the 2010 Mavi Marmara-led flotilla to Gaza.

This represents the first time that the ICC Pretrial Chamber conceded after appeals against the ICC Prosecutor’s decision to close the case – which it did for the third time in December 2019.

December’s closure represented the third consecutive time that Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda decided to close her preliminary probe of the alleged war crimes. She and the Pretrial Chamber have disagreed over the case since 2014, reported The Jerusalem Post.
