The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Monday the establishment of the “Ella” unit for epidemiological investigation purposes in the national effort to break coronavirus transmission chains.
The main goal of the unit is to reinforce and extend the epidemiological investigations array under the command of the “Alon” Task Force of the Home Front Command, the IDF spokesperson said in a statement.
In order to fulfill the mission, approximately 600 additional troops in active duty will be allocated to the unit, as well as dozens of reservists. In addition, hundreds of investigators will join the epidemiological mission across various municipalities over the next few weeks.
