IDF Fires Patriot Missile At Syrian Drone Flying Towards Tzfas

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Sunday that a Patriot aerial defense system missile was fired at an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that approached Israel’s border with Syria. Residents of Israel’s northern town of Tzfas reported hearing an explosion early Sunday afternoon and seeing a missile streak across the sky.

The army said in a statement that the aircraft had been identified before crossing into Israeli airspace and that the missile launch caused the UAV to retreat, with no hit identified.

“The IDF will not allow violation of Israel’s air sovereignty and will act against any attempt to harm its citizens,” the army said.

    • Nope. Taking down a UAV is more technically challenging then taking down an airplane or a missile. Because their radar cross-section is so much smaller, they are harder to detect and track.
