Israel Defense Forces shot and killed an armed terrorist attempting to cross into Israel via the northern Gaza border fence on Sunday, according to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit. Israeli tanks subsequently fired at Hamas military posts in the area.

No Israeli casualties were reported, and officials said that no Israeli communities came under threat.

The incident came just a day after Israeli forces killed four heavily armed Palestinians attempting to infiltrate the country from the Gaza Strip, thwarting what the military said was a potential “large-scale terror attack.”

According to the IDF, the terrorists were armed with AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, hand grenades, knives and bolt cutters.

The army said in a statement that Israeli troops “opened fire after one of the terrorists scaled the barrier and hurled a grenade at the soldiers,” adding that there were no Israeli casualties.

“One of the terrorists crossed into our territory and was shot, and three were killed along the concrete barrier at point-blank range,” the IDF added later on Saturday.

The Israeli military said it is holding the Hamas terrorist group, which rules the Gaza Strip, responsible. Hamas claims the four Gazans “acted independently,” the Ynet news site reported on Saturday.

Palestinian media reported that some or all of the four were former Hamas terrorists, according to The Times of Israel.

  1. They should turn those infiltrators into seives: bullet riddle their bodies with hundreds of rounds so to dissuade others! Forget the stupid world’s reaction! The dumbos of the world see the infiltration as a mitzva. Kinda similar to the southern border with Mexico.
