In the course of a mission conducted in Gaza, the remains of hostages Eden Zakaria and Ziv Dado were successfully retrieved by specialized units of the Israel Defense Forces and subsequently brought back to Israel.

After a thorough identification process conducted by medical professionals and military rabbis in collaboration with the Institute of Forensic Medicine and the Israel Police, representatives from the IDF and Israel Police conveyed the somber news to the families today.

Both hostages were taken captive by the Hamas terrorist organization on October 7th.

Their bodies have been repatriated to Israel.

Eden, age 27, was seized during the Re’im music festival, while Ziv, age 36, was taken captive and was tragically killed while serving as a logistics supervisor in the Golani Brigade’s 51st Battalion.

The operations that led to the discovery of the bodies were not without sacrifice. During the rescue efforts, IDF soldiers on reserve duty, Gal Meir Eisenkot and Eyal Meir Berkowitz, lost their lives, with additional soldiers sustaining injuries.

In response to the developments, the IDF stated, “Our national duty is to locate the missing and ensure the safe return of all hostages. We are collaborating closely with security agencies, utilizing every available intelligence and operational resource to bring all the hostages home.”
