Israel says the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) discovered an underground tunnel originating from the southern Gaza Strip while doing construction work on a security barrier.
“While building the underground security barrier near the Gaza Strip, IDF troops revealed an additional tunnel route emanating from the southern Gaza Strip,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement Monday.
“IDF troops are currently conducting advanced research of the tunnel route.”
The last “attack tunnel” which was discovered and neutralized by the IDF in October, 2018, penetrated 200 meters into Israeli territory, the IDF spokesperson said.
