unnamedA special election will be held for the 11th Congressional district this coming Tuesday, May 5th.

The redistricted Congressional seat covers Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn, including the entire area from McDonald Ave., Ocean Parkway and Coney Island Ave. until East 15 St. from Ave. P south until the Belt Parkway.

The major candidates are Staten Island District Attorney Dan Donovan, a Republican and Democrat City Councilman Vincent Gentile.

Both major candidates have met with executive board members of the Flatbush Jewish Community Coalition, (FJCC) and have pledged their support on the issues that most matter to our community.

Historically, special elections have experienced lower than normal turnout and this Tuesday will be no different. We strongly encourage members of the Jewish community, registered Democrats, Republicans and Independents to vote in Tuesday’s Special Election.

Your vote can really make the difference in choosing our next representative in Congress. Make your voice heard on strong US support for Israel, the Iranian nuclear deal, increased Homeland security funding, education issues and expanded social services.

Vote this Tuesday May 5th. Polls open at 6 AM and will close at 9 PM.
