loigmanDear Friend,

After much research, interviews and discussion, the LAC and other askonim in town have come to the decision to endorse Larry Loigman and Juan Ortiz for Fire Commissioner. Larry Loigman is someone who has a record of standing up for the values and rights of Orthodox Jewry throughout the state of NJ and beyond. He will be our eyes and ears on the Fire Commission to reign in the annual runaway budgets that have been all too common over the last decade. In fact, the Fire Dept of Lakewood is currently sitting on over 2 million dollars in surplus! That is enough for an entire years operating expense. This is in addition to expenditures on equipment and building stations that are not needed and overpriced. While the overall Fire tax is only about 2% of our tax bill, that is not a reason for money to be wasted. The lack of oversight and fiscal responsibility has become an overbearing problem that can no longer be ignored.

Askonim have therefore arranged that election times be extended to 10 pm to allow our oilam to have our votes count. Please vote this Motzai Shabbos for Larry Loigman and Juan Ortiz for Fire Commissioner. Elections are held at the fire house on the corner of James and Rt 9. There will be extra parking and voting booths available to handle the expected extra turnout during the Motzai Shabbos hours. Let us take advantage of this opportunity to finally bring fiscal sanity to the Fire Board of Commissioners.

The LAC

As leaders(?) it is important to make sure your statemets are written properly. In this instance the proper spelling is rein not reign.
