Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit announced Thursday that he has decided to indict Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for bribery, fraud and breach of trust in Case 4000, and fraud and breach of trust in Cases 1000 and 2000.

The decision was made after a four-day hearing on the prime minister’s cases last month and after three weeks of marathon hearings in the Attorney-General’s office.

    • Case 4000 is the serious-sounding allegation of bribery: Allegedly Wallah owner gives alleged positive press coverage to Netanyahu in exchange for alleged government policies/laws that allegedly favour Bezeq (Shaul Elovitch allegedly being a principle of both institutions).

Case 1000: Alleged receipt of gifts allegedly totalling hundreds-of-thousands of shekels, but even the accusations admit there is no clear evidence of any quid-pro-quo.

Case 2000: This one is even more absurd. Netanyahu ran a “sting” operation on Yediot’s owner by recording a conversation where Yediot’s owner agrees to give positive press coverage in exchange for Netanyahu (somehow) putting the squeeze on Yediot’s competitor Yisrael Hayom. No such a thing happened because there was never an intent to carry it out because, as I said, it was a “sting” against Yediot. The accusation is that this could have been for real.

  1. Are judges above the law? Why don’t they go after the judges, most of whom accept bribery. And so do government ministers.
