Iran Charges U.S. Journo With Espionage

jason-rezaianThe Washington Post’s Tehran bureau chief, Jason Rezaian, has been charged by Iran with espionage, “propaganda against the establishment,” and two other crimes, his lawyer said . Leilah Ahsan just learned the charges against Rezaian on Monday, nine months after her client was first imprisoned.

The counts have still not formally been made public.

Alleged communication with President Obama is cited as an example of another charge, “collaborating with hostile governments.”

There is no official trial date set yet for Rezaian, who has been in held in Evin Prison. Read more at the Washington Post.
