Yesterday afternoon the IRGC claimed that the elimination of Hamas terror leader Ismail Haniyeh was not carried out using a previously planted explosive device, but rather by a short-range missile fired at his room, with seven kilograms of explosives.
The IRGC said: “This terrorist act was planned and executed by the Zionist regime, with the support of the United States government. The arrogant and terrorist Zionist regime will pay decisively for this crime.”
The Iranian state news agency, Tasnim, also echoed the IRGC’s claim.
This claim contradicts earlier reporting by the NY Times and the Telegraph, which claimed that Haniyeh was killed by an explosive device which was planted months beforehand in the room he frequented.
While it would no doubt be embarrassing for Iran if Israeli intelligence managed to place an explosive device inside an IRGC building in Tehran, and hide it for months, the suggestion that Israeli agents could fire a missile inside Tehran does not exactly save face.
Following Haniyeh’s death, the IRGC has reportedly arrested dozens of people, including senior officers.

Why is his life more valuable than the hostages? If he’s okay to kill them, why not also him? Hopefully they froze his accounts with billions of aid money that he stole from the Palestinians! Hopefully the Ayatolas don’t get it.
Putting everything else aside it does not make sense that there was an explosive bomb sitting in that room for the past few months. Aside for the question of why wasn’t it detected, why would anyone have undertaken the risk of putting it there? There was no way of knowing that (1)Haniyeh was going to be in the room a few months later and (2)the bomb would not be discovered in the interim to justify such a risk
Notice that Israel did not claim to have killed him. Every day they claim to him have killed one important person or another, but did not claim Haniyeh! Why? Because In reality, Israel did not kill him. Khamenei had him killed, because Haniyeh was blackmailing him as he found out that Khameini was cheating with someone else’s wife!
Khameini blames it on Israel in order to deflect the blame.
