Iranian President Hassan Rouhani lashed out at the sanctions the U.S. imposed over the country’s nuclear program, calling them an “invasion.” The sanctions were imposed Friday on more than 25 businesses, banks, and individuals suspected of aiding Iran’s nuclear program and supporting terrorism.
“Sanctions are an invasion of the Iranian nation,” Rouhani said in a televised statement. “We should resist the invasion and put the invaders in their place. We should not allow the continuation and repetition of the invasion.” Rouhani did, however, tell journalists that the sanctions would not put an end to nuclear talks with world powers.
