An Iranian hacker group known as the “Cyber Avengers” claimed in a statement to have launched cyberattacks this month against more than 150 servers belonging to Israeli Railways, the country’s national train operator, affecting the operations of 28 stations, Turkish news agency Anadolu reported Friday.

“The major cyber-operation” was launched on July 14 at 1:20 am (8:20 pm GMT), the hour in which General Qassem Soleimani was assassinated in January, and lasted 10 days, the statement said.

“The worst is yet to come,” the Iranian group warned, also vowing that the cyberattacks carried out had “seriously damaged the equipment and infrastructure” of the Israeli railway system.

The aim of the operation was “to show that we could plan the collision of dozens of trains if we wished,” the statement added.
