An alleged ISIS aspirant from Texas was arrested Tuesday after his family convinced him to return home by telling him that his mom’s health was failing.
Asher Abid Khan, a 20-year-old from Spring, Texas, was arrested on charges that he plotted to join the terrorist group and spoke with a Turkey-based recruiter.
A friend of Khan’s made it across the Turkey-Syria border, according to the complaint, but Khan—who had been living in Australia with family and had made it to Istanbul—was lured home by family members who told him his mother was sick. Read more at NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.
