Yisrael Hayom reported that Ziyad al-Nakhalah, the Secretary-General of Islamic Jihad, has verified the organization’s endeavors to expand its influence in Judea and Samaria, commonly known as the West Bank. Additionally, al-Nakhalah stated that they are actively supplying weapons to Fatah members, including rival factions, under the directive of Iran.
During a visit to Iran by Islamic Jihad leaders, Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, emphasized the significance of “arming the West Bank and enhancing resistance activities within it.”
In an interview with the Iranian newspaper Alwafak, al-Nakhalah revealed that actions have been executed and strategies have been consolidated to arm the West Bank, aiming to bring about a fundamental shift in the Palestinian situation. These efforts involve smuggling weapons and even procuring them from within Israel. Al-Nakhalah highlighted that the primary objective is to transform the West Bank from a state of tranquility into a state of resistance, aligning precisely with the directives of the Supreme Leader.
He further asserted their unwavering support for the resistance and the establishment of military battalions and organizations in all Palestinian cities across the West Bank. The capabilities and scale of these groups vary from one location to another. They possess experts who specialize in devising effective combat methods and continuously provide substantial aid to fighters on the ground. Al-Nakhalah firmly believes that Israel’s existence will eventually come to an end. The timeline for this outcome depends on their strength, with the possibility of it transpiring within twenty years if they remain robust, or in another century if they are weak.
