The Al-Quds Brigades’ Jenin Battalion, affiliated with the Islamic Jihad, released a military statement detailing their engagement with IDF forces in Jenin.
“We have concluded another round of battle, resilience, unwavering determination, and confrontation against the occupying enemy, emerging from this clash even stronger,” declared the statement from the Islamic Jihad’s Jenin Brigades.
According to the announcement, the campaign commenced with an ambush in the Al-Jabariyat region, involving the detonation of multiple IEDs targeting IDF vehicles, resulting in damage and incapacitation of some of them.
The conflict persisted for a duration of eight hours, marked by a significant utilization of IEDs against IDF armored vehicles, combat in various locations, and the encirclement of IDF personnel in the Al-Jabriyat area, necessitating the deployment of a helicopter to aid the ground forces.
The Islamic Jihad’s Jenin Battalion concluded by cautioning Israel to carefully consider its decision before sending soldiers to Jenin in future operations, affirming their preparedness for further “surprises.” It was also reported that fighters from the Jaba and Tulkarm Brigades joined forces with the Jenin Brigade in the battle.
The IDF spokesperson confirmed that during the morning operation, two IDF soldiers and five undercover Border Police officers sustained moderate to light injuries. The casualties occurred after at least three powerful explosive devices detonated beneath the armored vehicle they were utilizing. Social media footage depicts the vehicle advancing amidst intense gunfire before the explosion.
IDF helicopters were dispatched to evacuate the wounded and provide covering fire to the soldiers in the area. The helicopters encountered multiple instances of small arms fire during the operation.
