As of Tuesday, Israel is lifting almost all restrictions linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health declared, shepherding in a return of normalcy after 15 months.

Limits on gatherings outdoors and inside are scrapped, removing restrictions on businesses, restaurants, cultural places, hotels, and places of worship. On Thursday of last week cinemas reopened for the first time since the outbreak of the virus.

The “Green Passport” scheme, which identified individuals vaccinated or having recovered from the corona virus since March, is also being ended.

The wearing of face masks indoors and on public transportation will continue, but is likely to be scrapped in the near future.
