Israeli security forces arrested Hassan Yousef, Hamas leader in the West Bank and one of the group’s co-founders, in his home in Ramallah early on Friday, multiple reports suggest.
The Times of Israel cites an unnamed security source as confirming the arrest and saying Yousef was brought in due to his “renewed activity.”
Both Hamas and Fatah reportedly released statements condemning the arrest as politically-motivated.
The Gaza-based terrorist group claimed that Yousef had been working on furthering the Palestinian reconciliation efforts.
