Israel Border Police officer Barel Hadaria Shmueli, 21, who was shot on the Gaza border nine days ago during clashes, died on Monday from his wounds, Soroka Medical Center said.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and other Israeli leaders issued statements mourning the loss of the soldier who was shot in the head when clashes erupted between Palestinian rioters and Israeli security forces during protests along the fence separating Israel from the Gaza Strip.
Shortly after the incident, Bennett vowed that Israel “will settle the scores with those who harm our soldiers and civilians,” in reference to the Gaza terrorists who shot Shmueli.
