Israel Freezes Bill Allowing Shin Bet Phone Tracking Program

The Knesset on Monday unanimously voted to give the government another 48 hours to deliver a bill approving the continued use of the Shin Bet’s tracking of coronavirus patients.

The Health Ministry told the Knesset that in the past two weeks, it has used the Shin Bet mobile surveillance data only once to locate people who have been in close contact with an infected patient, according to Haaretz.

The bill was frozen after Nadav Argaman, the head of Shin Bet, requested that the bill be paused.
