Magen David Adom (MDA) – Israel’s emergency medical service – announced today that it will collect plasma from recovered COVID-19 coronavirus patients to treat those most severely affected with the infection.
Following Health Ministry appeals, MDA will prepare plasma units from people who have recovered from Coronavirus – currently standing at approximately 90 – and use it to treat the sickest patients.
“The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has already approved a similar protocol in the US this week and use of plasma from Coronavirus recipients is already underway in China,” explained MDA Deputy Director General Blood Services Prof. Eilat Shinar.
