A key Knesset (Israel Parliament) panel voted Thursday to confirm the restrictions approved by the government Wednesday.

The vote at the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee gives the final green light to a slew of new restrictions designed to curb the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Israel as new cases soar.

The new measures include a ban on indoor gatherings and shuls as infections are on the rise in the Israeli Charedi sector.

They also bar Israelis from traveling more than one kilometer away from home to take part in political protests and demonstrations, which are to be held in clusters of 20 people.
