The Knesset passed the first ever two-year state budget this week, providing Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu with two years of calm in a nation where failure to pass a budget means new elections.

The budget for 2017 and 2018 calls for 906.8 billion shekels in spending.

The bill cuts 3.3 billion shekels across all ministries, with the savings earmarked for the evacuation of Amona, keeping the Israeli Broadcasting Authority on air longer than originally planned, and a new program entitling every Israel child to a bank savings account.
