Israel: Prosecutor’s Office Requires Netanyahu To Attend First Day Of Trial

The Prosecutor’s Office notified Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s defense lawyers Tuesday of its refusal to exempt the premier from appearing before the court for the opening of his trial next week.

This means that Netanyahu may have to be present at the Jerusalem District Court on Sunday to hear the charges read against him in three corruption cases — of which he has vehemently denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

Tel Aviv District Attorney Securities Department Director Attorney Yehudit Tirosh wrote that, “The assumption in a criminal proceeding is that the defendant is present during the course of the trial in his case. This is what the Legislature determined and so did the Supreme Court,” quoted by outlet Israel National News (INN).

  1. Could Attorney General Mandelbilt please remove his Kippah. Then his unjustified attacks on Prime Minister Netanyahu would be less of a Chilul HASHEM!
