Israel on Thursday registered two deaths from complications of COVID-19, the first coronavirus fatalities recorded in the Jewish state for over two weeks.
The Wolfson Medical Center in Holon reported the death of an unvaccinated 48-year-old man, who suffered from high blood pressure.
The Rambam Medical Center in Haifa reported the death of a fully vaccinated 86-year-old. The deceased’s spouse, who is in her 70s, is likewise hospitalized with the coronavirus despite being fully vaccinated. Her condition was reported as moderate to serious.
Despite a record-setting vaccination campaign, Israel in the past two weeks has seen a resurgence of the virus linked to the highly contagious Delta variant, as Wednesday marked the third straight day with over 500 new cases.
