Ever year, ahead of Rosh Hashanah, hundreds of letters are sent to Israel from around the globe addressed “To God,” “Our Father Up Above,” “Kotel” or “The Heavenly Father,” and are inserted between the Kosel’s stones by the Kosel rov, Rav Shmuel Rabinovich.

The Israel Postal Service is swamped with these letters, arriving from dozens of different countries – including the United States, Holland, France, Britain, China, Russia, and even Kazakhstan and Nigeria – as well as Israeli citizens.

Ynet reports that the letters are sent to the postal service’s ‘lost and found’ department and are kept in a special place, and twice a year, during the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah and during December, the letters are given to Rav Rabinovich to put in the Kosel.

This custom was performed on Monday by Israel Postal Service CEO Dan Goldstein.

  1. During DECEMBER?

That our nonjewish friends send messages to the Kotel, awesome. That they should be brought to the Kotel, along with the hopes, worries, and heartfelt thoughts and feelings of our fellow human beings, it’s fine and I am sure very appreciated.

December — I am unimpressed. I would think the envelopes are handled by the israel postal service because they were not addressed to the vatican, or were they?

  2. There was once a person that kept sending a letter to GOD every week that he needs $2.000 to marry off his daughter , after several months of getting this letter at the Post Office the people who worked there
decided to make a collection and got together $1.000 and sent it to this person ,after receiving the money he sent back a letter stating Dear GOD I want to thank you for the money that you sent me but in the future please don’t send any cash because the people at the Post Office stole half the money away.
