Israel has cast a vote against a United Nations General Assembly resolution advocating for an “advanced, comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in Ukraine,” the European Union revealed in a social media post on X/Twitter on Monday.

The update highlighted that 93 nations backed the measure, while 18—including Israel—rejected it. By opposing the resolution, Israel aligned itself with countries such as Russia, North Korea, and the United States.

According to a report from Maariv, in a separate but related matter, a group of U.S. senators reached out to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in response to efforts by members of Neturei Karta, who urged Ukrainian authorities to block Israelis from entering Uman.

The Ukrainian city of Uman serves as a major destination for Jews from Israel who continue to visit in large numbers each year despite the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Travel to the region remains a concern due to safety risks.

Officials in Uman have suggested that Ukraine’s leadership is currently assessing the request, which could introduce new diplomatic challenges between Israel and Ukraine.

With relations between the two nations shifting, Israel’s recent UN vote and the dispute over access to Uman may have further implications for future ties.

  1. I can only assume that Israel’s vote came due to pressure from President Trump. I can think of no other reason for Israel to get involved in a war it has nothing to do with, and certainly not to support the aggressor in Russia’s unprovoked land grab of Ukrainian territory.

    • Israel voted along with Russia and the US because they were fully aware of the urgent war Russia had to fight against Ukraine’s nuclear weapons and bio-chemical plants, and not a land grab as your fake news was trying to brainwash you with.

  2. How has Ukraine been voting at the UN?

In the past it has done very poorly there with regard to Israel. Let us not just look at one side here.

    • That’s a valid point – Ukraine is not our friend and even now has been consistently voting against Israel. Nonetheless, Russia is clearly the bad guy in this war and I’m trying to understand why Israel is supporting them.

  3. Israel should just stay out of it.

Neither country is exactly Jew-loving, though Putin has shown a certain amount of grace toward the Jewish people.

Zelensky has none absolutely nothing for the Jews (and as mentioned above, Ukraine’s UN voting record is not friendly), except to pretend to be a Jew in order to demand the weapons, money, support, and equipment Israel desperately needs for its own protection.
