i24 News – Israel’s military announced on Tuesday night that one of its drones fell in Syrian territory.

“Earlier today during a routine operation… [a] drone fell in Syrian territory. There is no fear of an information leakage,” the army said on its official Twitter account.

“The event is under investigation,” it added.

While it remains unclear what exactly caused the drone to fall, similar past incidents have been reported by the military as the result of technical mishaps.

Back in September of last year, a similar event occurred when another drone which belonged to Israel’s military fell in Syrian territory after it reportedly suffered a technical malfunction, according to the army.

On Monday, during a separate incident, soldiers with Israel’s military fired warning shots in the air in response to a number of people who the army said approached its troops situated along the border with Syria, according to The Times of Israel (ToI).

“Suspects who approached the force were identified,” a spokesperson for Israel’s military said, ToI reported.

“The troops responded by firing [in the air], after which the suspects moved away from the area,” the representative continued, adding that “the activity continued as intended.”
