A bochur arrested for draft evasion appealed to be released for his upcoming engagement, but the commandant of the prison rejected the request, arguing that the young man had already been arrested in the past and was refusing to enlist. A military court backed his decision.

After the case was taken to the Military Appeals Court, a military prosecution raised the suggestion that the chosson have his engagement in prison with family representatives present.

The proposal was summarily rejected and the boy was released for one day.

    • How many of those chilonim are requesting exemptions legally, as opposed to violating the law by not reporting to the induction center to apply for exemption?

      I thought so.

  1. THE ARMY ARE VERY BRAVE WHEN IT COMES TO PERSUCUTING YESHIVA BOCHURIM. WHY DON’T THEY ARREST ARABS FOR NOT SERVING IN THE ARMY? THE CONSCRIPTION LAW DISCRIMINATES AGAINST JEWS AND IS THEREFORE ILLEGAL. NOBODY SHOULD ENLIS!
