Israeli Government Mulling Decision To Impose Lockdown Over Purim

The Israeli government is considering imposing an additional national lockdown over Purim on February 25, coronavirus czar Professor Nachman Ash told the Ynet news site on Sunday.

Authorities fear an explosion of infections if members of the public are allowed to congregate for the traditionally festive celebration.

“The holiday worries us, and we are debating whether to take awareness measures and restrictive measures such as a nighttime curfew or confinement,” he said.
