Pandemonium erupted in the Knesset after Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz of Meretz announced a plan to open hospital cafeterias on Shabbos, in defiance of Israel’s religious status quo.

This happened after Shas chairman Michael Malchieli asked Horowitz why hospital cafeterias are so overpriced.

“I am working to lower prices in hospital cafeterias and also that they should be open seven days a week,” Horowitz responded. “Many people come on Shabbos to visit patients and they also want something to eat and drink.”

“The query was about the high costs of cafeterias, but the health minister rushed to ‘fix’ Shabbos,” said MK Yaakov Asher. “This is the true face of the Bennett government to the glory of the State of Israel.”
